HONOLULU (AP) - Bail has been set at $1 million for a man indicted Jan. 29 on four counts of attempting to murder police officers.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (https://bit.ly/1lvZ1RT) reports an April trial date was set Monday for 32-year-old Nicolas Nakano.
Nakano in December was on parole for auto and identity theft convictions. The parole board Dec. 5 issued a warrant for his arrest for drug possession and other violations.
Police say Nakano on Jan. 23 while driving tried to evade a police officer. They say he rammed another car and flipped his own. Nakano fled on foot.
Police say officers confronted Nakano near Waialae Country Club and that Nakano fired a shot from a handgun at an officer’s head. Police say he tried to fire twice more but the gun misfired.
