VAN BUREN, Ark. (AP) - Members of the Crawford County Quorum Court are to meet to discuss a marketing plan for a sales tax that would pay for a $20 million county jail.

Justice of the Peace Cathy Gifford told the Times Record (https://bit.ly/1jlQ6Cd ) that officials need to “get our ducks in a row” and find a way make the public understand the importance of building a new jail.

The proposed three-quarters of 1 percent sales tax will go before voters on May 20. One-half of 1 percent would be used to purchase land and pay for construction of the jail and would end in 10 years while the remaining one-quarter percent would be ongoing to pay for operation and maintenance of the jail.
