NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - New Haven police say a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the head has died at a local hospital.

Authorities say Torrence Gamble died at 3:15 a.m. Friday after having been rushed into surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Police say he lived in New Haven and attended Riverside Academy.

Officer David Hartman says the police department has nothing to report about a suspect or suspect vehicle. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call New Haven police.
