MORRISVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Raleigh-Durham International Airport is ready to open a refurbished terminal which will bring to an end more than a decade of construction.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports (https://bit.ly/1lRznaO) Terminal 1 is scheduled to open on Sunday. The $68 million effort follows the construction of new parking decks, a new general aviation terminal and a new Terminal 2.

RDU spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin says that for the first time in more than 15 years, there will be no major construction projects planned.

Terminal 1 was known as Terminal A when it opened in 1982. For years, it was the airport’s main terminal, serving all airlines except American and the now-defunct Midway.

After Terminal 2 opened in 2008, Terminal 1 now houses only Southwest Airlines and its subsidiary AirTran.
