The hunch was right. Jason Taylor will play. The defensive end, who was supposed to miss 10 to 14 days after spraining his right knee two weeks ago tonight, is starting.
However, cornerback Shawn Springs is inactive with a calf injury that he suffered in practice Monday. So Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot are starting at corner and disappointing fourth-round draft choice Justin Tryon is active.
Six of Tryon’s fellow draft picks are inactive: second-round tight end Fred Davis, second-round receiver Malcolm Kelly (knee), third-round offensive lineman Chad Rinehart, sixth-round safety Kareem Moore (hamstring), sixth-round quarterback Colt Brennan and seventh-round end Rob Jackson.
