The Redskins cut tight end Tyler Ecker to make room for Fred Davis on the roster. Ecker, a seventh-round pick out of Michigan in 2007, pulled a hamstring during the first week of training camp and never got back on the field.
And yet because he was a draft pick, Ecker got paid to spend all of last season on injured reserve while coming in faithfully ever day with his Detroit Tigers cap on backwards. Incredibly, Ecker missed most of this offseason with a groin injury that eventually required surgery.
How the media room wags will cope without the daily sight of Ecker is hard to say.
