ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish security took our Blackberries and phones away from us as we entered the compound where President Obama is meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gul. They said it was for security reasons.
But they let us take our computers through, and they are providing wireless Internet while we wait for Obama and Gul to come out of their meeting and take questions.
So, not sure what they thought they were accomplishing by taking away the phones and BlackBerries, since on my computer I can e-mail and talk live on Skype or any other such Internet-based phone service, but it’s best in these situations not to say anything.
