A Largo, Maryland, man will spend nine years in prison after being caught with child pornography on his phone while trying to meet up to have sex with a minor.
Marshall Day, 40, was sentenced Thursday on one count of transportation of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said.
On Oct. 8, 2025, Day logged onto a website and arranged to meet someone for sex, using the pseudonym “Mike LeRoy” and a username “KingDaddy89.”
Day told the other party that he was “into taboo,” federal prosecutors said. The other party, who was part of an FBI and Metropolitan Police Department task force, said that they had a 9-year-old daughter.
Day exchanged phone numbers with the other party the next day and went to Chinatown on Oct. 10 “so that he could sexually abuse the purported girl.” Day confirmed to the person he met that he was “Mike,” before being arrested by task force agents, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Law enforcement then found six child sex-abuse videos on Day’s phone that had been downloaded in the days prior and images downloaded earlier in the year, prosecutors said.
Day pleaded guilty on March 12. Following his release from prison, he will have 10 years of supervised release and will have to register as a sex offender.
