Virginia authorities said Wednesday that a man who fatally shot two coworkers and wounded another in Manassas later killed himself after police confronted him on the other side of the state.
Virginia State Police said troopers located Marvin Grant at a rest stop on Interstate 81 near Augusta County, more than 100 miles away from the crime scene at his job.
The troopers tried to stop the suspect at the rest area, but police said Mr. Grant fled and raced down the highway.

After chasing him for about five miles, authorities said the 37-year-old stopped his car, got out and put a gun to his head. He fatally shot himself around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Manassas City Police Chief Doug Keen said Mr. Grant was the lone suspect in a deadly shooting at the United Rentals facility.
Two of the employees died in the shooting that erupted at about 7 a.m. in the 9400 block of Wellington Road. A third was upgraded to stable condition by Wednesday afternoon. Police said all the victims were men.
Chief Keen said an altercation preceded the shooting in which Mr. Grant first shot two of his coworkers in the rental facility’s garage. He gunned down a third person who came out of an office after the initial shots, police said.
Authorities said Mr. Grant sped off in a gray Toyota with temporary North Carolina plates. Investigators said the suspect was from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Nearby Jennie Dean Elementary School was placed on lockdown during the early stages of the investigation, but the lockdown has since been lifted.
