Pop star Taylor Swift dedicated her Video of the Year award at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday to the late Dolly Parton.
Ms. Swift won her sixth Video of the Year trophy for “The Fate of Ophelia,” extending her record as MTV’s most decorated artist, with 32 total awards.
“I want to thank and dedicate this award to one person, without whom this wouldn’t be happening, and that person is the ultimate showgirl, Dolly Parton,” Ms. Swift said while accepting the Moon Person trophy, E! News reported.

She praised Parton’s songwriting, calling her storytelling “vivid” and comparing listening to her songs to watching “the best music video you have ever seen.”
Ms. Swift, 36, closed her remarks by saying everyone was “very, very … lucky to share this planet with Dolly Parton for a time.”
Ms. Swift also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors award, recognizing her achievements as a director and visual storyteller.
Parton, 80, died in August after a battle with cancer.
