A 62-year-old woman died this week after being struck by a car in Aspen Hill, Maryland, while crossing the street. Police say the driver, whom they did not name, committed a hit-and-run.
The victim, Saijuan Chen of Rockville, was crossing Arctic Avenue on foot at 7:21 p.m. Wednesday when she was struck by a green 2023 Jeep Wrangler whose driver was turning left off Bel Pre Road, the Montgomery County Police Department said Friday.
Ms. Chen was taken with serious injuries to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

A witness gave the police the license plate number of the Jeep, and the police located the driver and the car. The police did not say when or where they found the driver or if they have made an arrest.
Ms. Chen was the 14th person to die in Montgomery County this year after being struck by a car, and the driver is accused of being the sixth out of the 14 to leave the scene.
There were 12 such deaths in the county for all of 2025, according to Washington’s WRC-TV.
Ms. Chen’s family told the TV station that she was a “loving grandmother” who worked with seniors at a facility in the District of Columbia to keep them physically active.
