Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid kicked second-year tackle Josh Simmons out of a meeting last week, according to multiple reports published Sunday.

The situation occurred Wednesday, according to NFL Network, which broke the news. Simmons has not played this season due to a herniated disc. The Chiefs placed him on injured reserve on Thursday.

Simmons, a first-round pick in 2025, was reportedly sitting with his feet up during an offensive meeting. Reid asked him to pull them down, but the lineman insisted he was trying to support his sore back, ESPN and NFL Network reported. Mahomes backed the coach, according to multiple reports.

The Chiefs noted on Wednesday’s injury report that Simmons missed practice due to a “personal” reason, in addition to the nagging back problem. The Ohio State product is now sidelined for at least four games with the injured reserve designation.

The Seattle Seahawks (3-3) host the Chiefs (5-0) on Sunday night.
