It is no wonder that President Trump did not win the Nobel Peace Prize this year. He will not win it any other year either, because the people who decide who gets the prize hate him with remarkable irrationality.

The person to whom the peace prize went this year is Navi Pillay, a United Nations bureaucrat who served as the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008 to 2014. Yet her primary distinction in the eyes of the committee was chairing the U.N. commission that produced a report accusing Israel of genocide.

That report, dated Oct. 28, 2025, reads, “We concluded that the State of Israel is responsible for the commission of four genocidal acts in Gaza with the specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza, as such. The Commission also found that the Israeli President, Prime Minister and former Defense Minister have incited the commission of genocide.”

That is a bald-faced lie.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines “genocide” as “the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular nation or ethnic group.”

Under international law, that includes conduct such as killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the group’s physical destruction in whole or in part, imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group and forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

The Holocaust, as history tells us, was the attempt of Nazi Germany to rid the world of Jews. The Nazis managed to kill 6 million Jews. Such are the conditions that Russia has inflicted on Ukraine, including the intentional deaths of civilians — a war crime — and the forcible transfer of children into Russia.

Israel has not imposed such conditions on the Gaza Strip. Since the start of the ceasefire, more than 600 trucks a day have supplied more than 70,000 tons of hygiene supplies, more than 1.5 million tons of food, more than 12,500 tons of medical equipment and more than 650,000 tents and tarpaulins, according to Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.

Still, the accusations of genocide against Israel fall off the tongues of leftists easily and regularly.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani accused Israel of “genocide,” “apartheid” and “occupation” in his posts on the anniversary of 9/11. Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed has routinely said that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. He is an ally of Hasan Piker, who said that America deserved the 9/11 attacks.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Michigan Democrat, has introduced a congressional resolution, along with 20 original co-sponsors, to condemn the Israeli “genocide” in Gaza. The group includes fellow Democratic representatives and “Squad” members Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

Introducing the measure, Ms. Tlaib said, “The Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza has not ended, and it will not end until we act. Since the so-called ’ceasefire’ was announced, Israeli forces haven’t stopped killing Palestinians.”

That is partially true. The Israelis have a list of those who participated in the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre of Israelis and are continuing to kill them. That is not genocide. It is a justifiable killing of murderers.

In 2023, the Gaza Strip had a population of approximately 2.23 million. It is now estimated at approximately 2.1 million. The Israelis have killed perhaps 74,000 people, mostly Hamas terrorists. The Nazis killed more than 90% of Poland’s Jewish population. The Hutus killed about 1 million Tutsi men and women in the genocide in 1994. Between 1.2 and 2.2 million Cambodians — about 25% of the population — died from 1975 to 1979.

That is genocide. What Israel has done in Gaza is not.

The Democrats always claim that their “big tent” can accommodate everyone. Even Hasan Piker. They claim that their view is not antisemitism, only a condemnation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government.

The reality is something different.

One New York Times columnist summed up the absurd accusations of genocide against Israel. He wrote, “It is obscene because, however much the genocide allegation against Israel is mindlessly repeated by people too lazy or prejudiced to understand the difference between war and genocide, that allegation is as false as it is sinister.”

Democratic politics this year has a strong undercurrent of antisemitism. Yet Jewish people continue to vote Democratic. Their parents and grandparents did, out of devotion to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It is only because of a suicidal empathy that they continue to do so.

Mr. Trump is better off without the Nobel Peace Prize. He should be castigating the people who receive it for their lack of contributions to peace.
