Federal agents searched Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home in the District of Columbia early Monday as part of a criminal fraud investigation focused on the Democratic congresswoman’s immigration paperwork.

The raid is connected to a probe of the immigration forms that Ms. Omar’s late father filled out when she was a child, the Department of Justice told Fox News Digital.

Agents from the Department of Homeland Security carried out the predawn raid that was authorized by a judicial warrant, the Department of Justice said.

Ms. Omar has been one of the more visible members of Congress since her election in 2018.

She is a member of “The Squad,” a group of far-left female lawmakers who gained their nickname for opposing President Trump and his policies.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly identified which one of Ms. Omar’s homes was targeted in the federal raid. It was her home in the District.
