Peter Navarro, a top White House trade adviser, said the administration will lean into its tariff strategy even more after the GOP midterm bloodbath.

Mr. Navarro, who has helped craft President Trump’s tariff policies in both terms, told Steve Bannon on Real America’s Voice that the policies have helped bring manufacturing back to America.

“We are quadrupling down on tariffs,” he said. “They are just kicking [butt].”

NBC News’ exit poll from Tuesday’s midterm elections, which produced a wave of Democratic victories, found 66% of voters thought Mr. Trump’s tariffs hurt the economy and 21% thought they helped.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, New York Democrat, has launched his bid to become speaker of the House with a pledge to “eradicate the Trump tariffs.”

Mr. Navarro said on Mr. Bannon’s show that the tariffs have boosted the manufacturing sector.

“We are in the midst of an incredible manufacturing renaissance,” he said. “Every time we have a jobs report, we’re generating incredible amounts of manufacturing and construction jobs.”

He added, “We’re seeing it in the ISM Manufacturing Index, which is on a 10-month tear now … and it’s [because of] tariffs. Look, the world cheats us, and when they cheat us, our jobs go offshore. When we put up the tariff wall, they can’t cheat us, and the jobs come home.”
