Two actors have entered the fray to be the next James Bond — just as fans were told that the screen tests for the mega role were winding down and that a new super spy would be announced soon.

Variety reports that Brits Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult have joined the race after screen tests for director Denis Villeneuve.

It was previously reported that actors Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor were considered finalists for the role.

Mr. Pattinson has had a successful 2026, with roles in “Primetime” and “The Odyssey,” the latter of which went on to become the highest-grossing movie ever for Universal Studios.

The actor will next appear in “Dune: Part Three” in December, which Mr. Villeneuve is also directing.

Mr. Hoult is also no stranger to blockbusters, having appeared last year as Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s “Superman.”

The Bond franchise was purchased by Amazon from Eon Productions in February 2025, and there is no set release date for the next film.

The last movie featuring Bond was 2021’s “No Time to Die,” which featured Daniel Craig playing 007 one last time after a 15-year run.
