Money has been blamed for a lot of evils in the world. But in truth, money isn’t bad; neither is all debt. But building wealth in a way that glorifies God requires a few purposeful steps.

“Some of the heroes of the Bible,” said “Good Money” author John Coleman, “were incredibly gifted.”

Solomon, for example, was given such riches by God that his kingdom’s wealth was known then world over, and leaders of other nations visited him not only for his wisdom, but to see his riches.

As the Bible warns, it’s the love of money that can become problematic, because it sets the stage for ungodly pursuits and the worship of a false god. So, how to be a Christian and, at the same time, build wealth? Or, as Coleman seeks to address in his book, “What is the role of money in the good life?”

Key, he said, is generosity.

“Generosity is one of the clearest concepts in the Bible,” he said. So, too, is this simple reminder, he said: “Don’t confuse your worth with your net worth.”
