OPINION:
The longer the back and forth with Iran has gone on, the more uneasy I have become.
President Trump’s repeated announcements — usually denied by Iran — have seemed to be the counsel of spinmeisters more concerned with influencing polls than providing substance for meaningful negotiations. It creates a perilous situation.
I am sure the Iranian “experts” at the State and Defense departments concluded that the regime was in a desperate situation and needed to negotiate a responsible agreement. The problem is that these creatures are subhuman. The advisers and negotiators should have been required to spend a month in prison interacting with the criminally insane.
Iranian leaders are ideologues and sociopaths. Asking for a ceasefire indicated to them only that it was time to increase the violence.
One can begin meaningful discussions only when these creatures perceive a credible threat of military force. Otherwise, a terrorist regime determines global economic activity. The regime exerts control over huge amounts of oil, natural gas and fertilizer emerging from the Persian Gulf into worldwide markets.
If it did not, then U.S. gasoline prices would not have increased recently.
These two-legged vertebrates would have a privileged seat at negotiating tables. If they are allowed nuclear weapons, then there will be no negotiating at all.
