Letter to the editor: Thomas is wrong on Iran deal

OPINION:

Cal Thomas is nothing if not consistent (“Iran deal all about Trump, not the greater good,” Web, June 22).

He is a man who, during his professional life, has consistently criticized Donald Trump, both personally and politically. Mr. Thomas, who is not alone in summarily declaring the Iran deal (which does not even exist) an abject failure, seems equally concerned with how Mr. Trump speaks about it.

The U.S., together with Israel, has destroyed the Iranian military, most of its missiles and most of its nuclear capability. When Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, Mr. Trump set a blockade that cost Iran hundreds of millions of dollars every day.

Now, Iran has signed a memorandum of understanding that guarantees the strait remains open and that Iran will cease supporting terrorist organizations. It further states that, over the next 60 days, Iran will meet with the U.S. for the sole purpose of eliminating Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities.

It also says that if those last two objectives are not reached, the U.S. will resume military action against Iran. Mr. Trump has said this too.

Yet what does dear Cal Thomas focus on? Mr. Trump’s language. Well done, Cal. How about his suits? Are they OK?
