President Trump on Wednesday night said that the U.S. could have more military operations on the way.
“How good is our military?” Mr. Trump said at a rally to kick off the Great American State Fair to honor the 250th anniversary of America’s founding.
“One week – Iran was essentially finished in one hour. Venezuela was finished and I guess we have other things in store, but we don’t want to get carried away,” he said.
Mr. Trump did not say what potential military operations he’s considering, but he has hinted a few times that Cuba could be the next target.
During a March speech in Miami, Mr. Trump declared that Cuba would be the next country he had to deal with after U.S. military action in Venezuela and Iran.
“I built this great military. I said, ‘You’ll never have to use it. But sometimes you have to use it. And Cuba is next, by the way,” he said.
The U.S. military in January carried out a surprise military raid on the compound of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. The two were brought to New York, where they are currently in jail awaiting drug trafficking charges.
In February, the U.S. military joined Israel and hit more than 1,000 targets in a full-scale attack on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other top officials.
After roughly four months of conflict, the U.S. and Iran reached a memorandum of understanding that created a 60-day window to create a permanent peace deal. Vice President J.D. Vance led a team of negotiators in Switzerland over the weekend to try to reach an agreement to end the conflict.
