Jeff Probst, host of CBS reality show “Survivor,” has announced that an animated movie is in the works.

Mr. Probst said that the Paramount Animation-produced movie is “still everything we love about ’Survivor,’ big personalities, funny characters, surprising alliances, competition, chaos and of course a lot of heart.”

“But this time, the players aren’t humans. Imagine a big, fun, animated comedy about ’Survivor’… in the animal kingdom,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

Mr. Probst added that “’Survivor’ has always been about watching different personalities learning how to live together while competing against each other, and setting it in the world of animals gives us a whole new playground to play with. … I can’t wait for you to meet this new tribe.”

Both Paramount Animation and CBS are owned by parent company Paramount Skydance.

The official synopsis of the planned movie says that it is “set on a remote and mystical island, animals from all around the globe compete for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be crowned the sole Survivor.”

Mr. Probst will be an executive producer on the picture.

The host, who has been with the show for all 50 of its seasons, did not say whether he will be appearing on screen as himself or providing voice acting for the movie.

The show’s 51st edition is expected to air 90-minute episodes on Wednesdays on CBS starting in the fall, according to the network’s website.

The finale of the 50th season, which aired on May 20, drew over 5.78 million live and same-day viewers, the most since the 7.61 million viewers who watched the finale of the 40th season on May 13, 2020.
