OPINION:
Two days after the men’s hockey victory in the Winter Olympics this year, a national TV network aired an all-female panel discussing the win.
One woman said, “The best men can do is f—- up.” If a man had said that about the women’s team (or women in general), there would have been outrage from the political left.
Misandry, the biased contempt for men, seems now to be common. Its practice includes the use of a long list of demeaning slurs, none better than what misogynists call women.
The term “toxic” does not describe just some men or some male traits. Everyone has a significant toxic side, and it is expressed in the (false) elevation of the self and those like yourself over others.
Misogyny and misandry will never just disappear. They are part of human imperfection, which will never go away either. We might be able to reduce them if far more people would realize how much they hurt society, including the holder of the beliefs.
Another way to reduce these biases is to ask the all-powerful God for the strength to give them up. Many will refuse to do this despite great evidence of God’s existence.
Still, any reduction in this bigotry would be a great blessing to both sexes.
