Metro started service on the Prince George’s County side of the Green Line with single tracking on Monday due to repairs of a rail warped by heat.
Trains ran on the single track between Hyattsville Crossing and Greenbelt, with some trains offloading passengers at the Hyattsville station to minimize traffic, the Metrorail Info account said on X.
On the Yellow Line, trains started the day running from Huntington to Mount Vernon Square, requiring passengers to switch to Green Line trains in order to travel toward Greenbelt.
Normal service resumed on the two lines by 8:30 a.m. Monday, according to Metrorail Info.
The single tracking began Saturday after extreme heat created a kink in a rail near the College Park station. A six-car 3000-series Metrorail train derailed due to that problem.
Metro said on X that the 11 passengers on board were safely evacuated, with no one suffering a serious injury.
Prince George’s County Fire and EMS told Washington’s WTTG that among the evacuees, one person refused transportation and one man went to the hospital to be evaluated.
Heat in the District on Saturday reached a record-tying 100 degrees, according to WTTG.
