The National Park Service is assessing the potential impacts of building a Triumphal Arch in the District of Columbia and is inviting public feedback on the proposal.

The arch would be constructed within Memorial Circle, situated between the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and the Memorial Bridge.

Comments can still be submitted through the Park Service’s website through July 30.

President Trump has promoted the 250-foot arch as a way to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, but the idea drew criticism from some residents and preservationists.

The National Park Service has issued a report on the potential impacts, such as plaza development, landscape changes, utilities, traffic circulation, and construction staging, including expected lane closures and new traffic signals during construction.

It is the second time the agency has opened a public comment period on the report, with an earlier one having occurred in June.

Despite ongoing pushback, the National Capital Planning Commission recently voted to approve preliminary site and building plans for the arch.
