FIFA is selling sections of grass from the pitch that will be used for the final match of the 2026 World Cup on July 19 on its website for $450.
The grass will be preserved inside a poured resin cube marked with the date, the score of the match, and “New York New Jersey Stadium,” the temporary name being used for MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for the duration of the tournament.
The FIFA website only offers the “Foundation” edition, which is going for $450, but the producer of the collectible Keepstub has three other versions available for sale on its website, all of which come with a gold-etched ticket for the final match.
There are only 2,026 units available of each tier of the resin cube, all of which will ship out after the match. The three higher tiers of the collectible being sold by Keepstub are:
- the “Stadium” edition, on sale for $900
- the “Legacy” edition, on sale for $1,200
- the “Hero” edition, on sale for $3,000
The two most expensive versions also include a World Cup final ball encased in an acrylic cube. The “Hero” edition has its grass preserved in a larger resin cube than the other three versions and also comes with a glass-cut crystal World Cup trophy, per the Keepstub website.
The size of the section of grass embedded in the “Hero” edition is also larger, at 3 inches by 3 inches by 3 inches. The other three versions have a piece of grass that is 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches, according to The Athletic.
The keepsakes are unavailable for shipment to some countries. Fans in potential World Cup finalist Switzerland, for example, will be unable to have any of the versions of the collectible sent to them.
Keepstub’s list of countries available for shipment is even more restrictive, limited to the United States, the United Kingdom and countries in the European Union, leaving out fellow host nation Canada as well as potential World Cup finalists Argentina, Norway and Switzerland.
