Director/screenwriter Taylor Sheridan has confirmed that “6666,” the long-rumored spinoff of the hit Paramount TV series “Yellowstone,” is permanently canceled and will not move forward.

Mr. Sheridan shut the door on the fictionalized series based on his Four Sixes Ranch in Texas during an appearance on the “Rodeo Time” podcast.

“I would never fictionalize that ranch,” he said.

Paramount announced the spinoff was in development in 2022, with the series set to explore the era when Comanches still ruled West Texas.

Mr. Sheridan, who purchased the ranch with a group of investors in 2020, said he did not want to invent drama or trivialize the working ranch and the people who depend on it.

Mr. Sheridan is also known for other successful TV series, including “Lioness,” “The Madison” and “Tulsa King.”
