Prince George’s County police have arrested six people in the county and the District accused of participating in a multistate retail theft ring.
The county police department said Tuesday in a blog post that Cyan Rocke, 25, and Tia Courtney, 31, of Capitol Heights; Chyna Parker, 26, and Quasaan Parker, 22, of Suitland; and D.C. residents Daryl Michael Jackson, 30, and Marco Morgan, 37, stole from more than 100 businesses, with some targeted multiple times.
The alleged thefts took place in Delaware, the District, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, police said.
The six suspects are accused of stealing merchandise worth more than $500,000. Police said six search warrants carried out in Prince George’s County and the District on Monday turned up goods with security tags on them worth more than $20,000.
After stealing items, the suspects resold the goods on social media or in private deals, police said. Authorities did not say how much the theft ring is alleged to have made from the sales.
While executing the search warrants, officers found 2.2 pounds of crack cocaine, 4 ounces of mushrooms, 5 ounces of PCP, 186 fentanyl pills, a Glock semiautomatic handgun and nearly $6,000, county police Chief George Nader said Tuesday at a press conference.
Chief Nader said the investigation has led to three criminal complaints filed in federal court on charges including conspiracy, transportation of stolen goods across state lines and receiving stolen goods worth more than $5,000 that were transported across state lines.
Ms. Rocke, Mr. Morgan and Mr. Jackson face the federal charges, according to WTOP-FM.
There are also eight state indictments in the case on charges including attempted robbery, conspiracy, criminal organization, felony theft and organized retail theft, Chief Nader said. He did not say whether any drug charges had been filed against the suspects.
He said the department anticipates making five more arrests in the case.
