The Washington Post will conduct layoffs this week, impacting 4% of staffers.

The legacy outlet began informing staff of the layoffs on Tuesday. According to reports, the job cuts will impact fewer than 100 staffers across various departments. The Post said the cuts are part of a shift in strategy to ensure the paper can meet the needs of the industry and audiences.

The Post previously announced layoffs in September, cutting 54 staffers from its tech divisions.

The incoming layoffs come on the heels of the departure of Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes. She left the paper over the weekend after The Post refused to publish a cartoon featuring Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the paper’s owner, bowing to President-elect Donald Trump.

The cartoonist’s departure likely increased tension at the paper. In October, the Post faced backlash from subscribers and staff after it decided not to endorse either presidential candidate.

More than 250,000 customers canceled their subscriptions.

The paper has also faced some departures from its newsroom, with several veteran journalists accepting reporting jobs at rival publications.

Two of The Post’s political reporters, Ashley Parker and Michael Scherer, announced last week that they had accepted jobs at The Atlantic. The New York Times also grabbed some Post talent for itself this month, with Managing Editor Matea Gold and White House reporter Tyler Pager moving to the Times.
