Walmart will offer annual bonuses to its more than 700,000 U.S. employees, the company announced.
The retail giant’s CEO, John Furner, on Wednesday said all part-time and full-time employees will be eligible for the bonuses, which will be tied to store-specific goals. Those in Walmart’s vision and pharmacy centers will also be eligible for the bonuses.
Earlier this year, Walmart announced a similar policy for store managers in the U.S., where salaried workers would receive annual bonuses based on store performance.
Mr. Furner said the bonuses are a result of employee feedback and a desire to remain competitive on wages.
Walmart’s starting wage stands at $14 an hour, one dollar less than Walmart’s competitor Target.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics noted that job growth slowed significantly in April and wages dipped.
