OPINION:
Progressives see all social phenomena through the prism of class struggle (“Delusional progressives should be kept away from power,” web, Oct. 1).
Many reject the idea of merit-based stratification of society as a petty, bourgeois concomitant of capitalism, which itself is an unfair and unjust economic system because of its competitiveness. And they are not going to take it any longer because, well, they know what is right and you do not.
As the federal government grows larger and spreads its reach ever further into our lives, hunger to control the ballot box will grow, for that is where the kingdom and power reside. Truth, civility and tradition are deserted when control and patronage of trillions of dollars sound a seductive tone.
Shoring up the party base is paramount and thus we rile to rule. Unsound practices will prevail until sound voices do.
