The NFL informed owners to be available for a possible league meeting on July 20 and Aug. 8 to vote on the Commanders sale, a source with knowledge of the situation said.

The league sent a memo Friday, just days after the NFL finance committee met with billionaire Josh Harris about the sale,  informing owners of the dates.

The finance committee meeting reportedly went well as Harris agreed to requested changes to the specifics of his purchase of the Commanders.

Harris, the owner of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and NHL’s New Jersey Devils, reached a tentative agreement to buy the Commanders for $6.05 billion from owner Dan Snyder in April. Snyder and Harris entered into a signed agreement a month later.

For the deal to become official, Harris needs at least 24 of 32 votes from NFL owners.

A source with knowledge of the situation said that the meeting in July or August would be a one-day meeting. No location or agenda has been set.

Sports Business Journal first reported the news.

If a vote is taken on July 20, it would put Harris in a position to be the Commanders’ new owner by the beginning of training camp. Washington’s camp begins a week later on July 27.

“I think it’ll help a lot,” Commanders coach Ron Rivera said last week when asked what it would mean for Washington’s sale to be done in time for camp.” I mean, there’s still some things that we’ve gotta be able to move on from and have decided on. That’s just the biggest part of, it, just being able to get all those other little details taken care of that we need to have taken care of. That’s a big part of it for us.”
