Amazon founder Jeff Bezos publicly responded to rumors that he‘s interested in buying the Washington Commanders for the first time, saying in an interview that “we’ll just have to wait and see” when asked about the possibility of a purchase.

“Yes, I’ve heard that buzz,” Bezos said with a smile when asked if the speculation was true.

Bezos has been linked to the Commanders from the moment the franchise confirmed that Dan and Tanya Snyder have hired an investment bank to explore “potential transactions” that include a possible sale of the team. Bezos is reportedly eyeing a bid with rapper Jay-Z, while actor Matthew McConaughey and NBA star Kevin Durant have also expressed interest in joining their group.

Bezos was spotted at dinner last week in Los Angeles with Jay-Z.

A Morning Consult survey found that Bezos was the preferred choice out of 11 possible suitors who could buy the Commanders among the team’s fans.

“I grew up in Houston, Texas, and I played football growing up as a kid … and it is my favorite sport … so we’ll just have to wait and see,” Bezos told CNN.
