ANALYSIS/OPINION:

President Biden’s ‘cult of free,’ with its incontinent levels of stimulus, has been compared to the signature policy of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This is not encouraging. For all that simplistic school textbooks and political mythologists praise FDR, in actual fact his New Deal was a counterproductive failure and by 1937 the U.S. economy was back in a recession. GDP dropped by 10% and unemployment increased again to 20%.

Given that the Great Depression in the U.S. was ended not by FDR’s welfare programs but by the outbreak of World War II, Mr. Biden’s ‘New New Deal’ only leaves me fearful that we will soon be dying in wars with Russia and China.
