OPINION:
It doesn’t take a magnifying glass these days to know that the Democrats are in trouble and to know what they’re planning to do about their waning fortunes. Spoiler alert: They will be doubling down on all of their most destructive and malevolent strategies. The lies will be bigger, the accusations more irrational, and the plots more convoluted and frantic.
The collapse of President Biden’s and Vice President Kamala Harris’s poll numbers have been like watching Wile E. Coyote’s slow-motion fall off the cliff. He looks at you as though everything’s fine as the wind rushes through his fur on the way down. But everyone knows he’s got a disastrous landing coming right up in three … two … one. Or more like 2 … 0 … 2 … 2.
For the Democrats, that hard landing started in Afghanistan and has continued unabated. Americans have watched the collapse of the Biden administration through a bevy of disastrous domestic policy failures, media meltdowns, unintelligible press conferences and Jen Psaki devolving into an irritated and smug rope-line bouncer abandoning the cloak of a steady and serious White House press secretary.
They know the 2022 midterm election will be a rout of their party and politics, but they still think a deadly pandemic is a winner for them. As Hanoi Jane Fonda said in an October 2020 interview, the mass death event of COVID-19 was a “gift” for the left. She laughed excitedly and then waxed on how it was “delivered” from high to help the left.
It was an obscene and revealing utterance that could only come from a woman who personally supported an enemy actively engaged in killing American troops in Vietnam. And there she was, as COVID-19 raged in the fall of 2020, thrilled at the turn of events. Ms. Fonda’s loathsome thought process is not an outlier for the left; it is its mainstream.
During the past month, it has become even more clear the Democrats will continue not to let the crisis of the pandemic go to waste. My past experience on the left tells me it will work to extend the COVID-19 emergency as the pretext to again argue for changes making the electoral system less secure but spun as needed in the name of “safety.”
Even now, Senate Democrats continue their push to federalize elections, including mandating states adopt “same-day registration,” opening up elections to a variety of voter fraud and casting doubt on the legitimacy of our entire election system. And that would be the goal.
As the Biden administration continues to fail spectacularly on COVID-19, he held a press conference on Tuesday revealing the new plans they developed to deal with the pandemic. His big announcement was making 500 million at-home COVID-19 tests available and starting up a website where people can request one be sent to them. None of this will be happening until mid-January. In the meantime, the president’s other big piece of advice was that you should Google “COVID test near me.”
This press conference debacle was a tell regarding the political doomsday the Democrats are facing next year. The entire focus on testing with nothing about therapeutics and treatments for the vulnerable was noticed by many observers. Yet it does make sense if you’re actually only concerned about an election.
Mark my words: The focus on testing starting next year is to increase “cases” perpetuating fear and fueling the Democratic argument for mass “no-fault” absentee voting, more ballot harvesting, drop boxes and other election “emergency” changes for the 2022 midterm election.
But there is another front to the left’s scramble to “win” in 2022. We are now being fed propaganda that those who are not on their knees pledging fealty to the establishment’s status quo are likely to start a civil war in 2024.
The Washington Post published an opinion piece from three retired generals arguing that a civil war was a possibility after the 2024 election if a “Trumpian figure” did not win as “split loyalties” in the military would cause chaos. In other words, Trump voters are terrorists and insurrectionists in and out of the military. It’s a disgusting premise, and a lie meant to further the demonization of conservatives and other supporters of the former president or anyone who would challenge the establishment.
Glenn Greenwald sounded the alarm on Twitter: “This WPost op-ed by ‘3 retired Generals’ — calling for the US military to turn its planning against the citizenry on domestic soil in the name of stopping ‘insurrection’ and ‘misinformation’ — is vastly more dangerous and anti-democratic than 1/6 itself. Remember: **before 1/6**, the ‘US intelligence community’ was claiming the greatest threat to the US Homeland is ‘domestic extremism.’ It’s long been clear that this ‘Insurrection’ narrative is so vital because it justifies any domestic powers in the name of stopping it.”
The good news is, any plan to manipulate or intimidate us will be as dumb and feckless as everything else they do. As we wait for election day, our work includes needing to mitigate the damage they will continue to try to inflict on our nation.
