The robot umpires won’t do this in the future.

An umpire in a baseball game in Mexico over the weekend was removed from the field by security after several erratic actions, including flipping off fans, trying to fight players and fellow umpires and even having trouble standing.

Fans were mocking the umpire, who many are speculating was drunk, which led him to give them the bird and then try to fight the players who got near him. Security was eventually called and he was removed from the field.

The umpire, Humberto Sainz, has been suspended indefinitely by the Mexican Pacific League.
“I am saddened and ashamed of my actions,” wrote Sainz on Monday. “It is clear I should not have made gestures or yell at players and fans of this most noble hobby. I committed an act not only unworthy of me, but my colleagues and the Mexican league, who trusted me. I was not worthy of trust in this situation.”
