It’s become clear that President Biden suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome and that’s bad news for America’s national security. Mr. Biden is a puppet for his left-wing base and this means reversing as many Trump policies as possible — even if they achieved positive results for America.

This alarming behavior is terrible our country. Why raise taxes, knowing it will hurt our economy? Why stop building the border wall, knowing it will increase illegal immigration? Why give China a free pass for its human rights abuses, knowing it will only embolden them?

Eliminating programs that don’t work is one thing, but throwing out the baby with the bath water is stunning incompetence and a horrible precedent to set. Our country can’t survive if each new administration’s entire existence focuses on undoing an outgoing president’s agenda, regardless if it was successful. This is dangerous and the world is paying close attention.

Former President Trump adopted a doctrine of peace through strength while promoting America First principles on the world stage as his foreign policy. Mr. Trump rebuilt our military and national defense, renegotiated unfair trade deals, utilized our military power wisely and promoted American Exceptionalism around the globe.

The Trump foreign policy doctrine was an innovative success. He pressured NATO countries to spend more on our shared national defense; he believed deeply in shutting down “endless wars,” and made Iran feel immense economic pain for their decade’s long record of evil behavior through crippling sanctions.

Mr. Trump understands — correctly — that the mullahs in Iran react one way to power and one way to weakness and that’s why operating from a position of peace through strength works so effectively. The totalitarian regime in Tehran knows that a no-nonsense America with unparalleled national defense capabilities must not be crossed or else.

But Trump Derangement Syndrome is causing Mr. Biden to take us back to Barack Obama’s weak and feckless foreign policy. Look no further than the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, Iran. The Iranians know that Joe Biden wants to re-enter the failed Iran nuclear deal because President Obama and the American left view it as a foreign policy success in the alternate universe they live in.

This disastrous attempt to appease Iran is already backfiring. Before the “indirect” talks between U.S. and Iranian officials in Vienna had concluded, the State Department said that it’s ready to lift sanctions, without securing anything in return from the regime. Essentially, we’ve already surrendered all leverage we had, giving away the store and indicating a return to weakness on the global stage.

Mr. Trump’s maximum pressure strategy when it came to Iran worked. But, for the TDS-infected foreign policy wonks in Mr. Biden’s State Department, continuing a Trump-era doctrine of peace through strength is out of the question, even if it worked.

As a result, we have State Department spokesman Ned Price announcing this week that Mr. Biden is “prepared” to ease sanctions. This Iranian victory will come at the cost of more American bloodshed in the Middle East, as an emboldened regime will divert more resources to sponsoring terror across the region.

We all know how this is going to turn out. Mr. Biden — the weak puppet of the left — will agree to drop our sanctions against Iran in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit its nuclear enrichment program under the guidelines of the 2015 John Kerry-brokered nuclear deal. Iran will then fail to live up to its commitments because they know Mr. Biden is weak.

Because of Mr. Biden’s anti-Trump “America last” worldview, Iran will rebuild its economy, continue its program of international terrorism, chant death to America and Israel, and thumb its nose at the world as they plow forward with their nuclear program. This is simply unacceptable; no one wants to return to the days of Obama-Biden cash pallet diplomacy.

American foreign policy can’t be dictated by the left’s hatred of Donald Trump; it must be guided first and foremost by doing what is necessary to keep the American people safe.

The decision to withdraw from the horrendous JCPOA was correct, as Mr. Trump noted that “America will not be held hostage to nuclear blackmail.” The Biden administration lacks the strength to effectively deal with our foreign adversaries, seeking to distance itself from Trump policies with something that resembles appeasement — both to Iran and China

The rush to discard Trump-era policies has already backfired, manifested in the destabilization at the southern border and increased aggression from adversaries like Iran, China and Russia. If our enemies don’t take us seriously, then no amount of deal making will work — our adversaries will welcome the lift of sanctions and immediately return to destabilizing military aggression, and innocent men and women around the world will suffer.
