Good thing for some Chicago Bears players that Mike Ditka isn’t the coach.
The Super Bowl-winning coach and Hall of Fame player said that people who want to violate the norms surrounding the U.S. national anthem and flag for the sake of a political cause should leave the country.
Mr. Ditka, known for decades for tough talk and directness, also poured scorn on the notion that NFL players are some oppressed class, pointing out that they’re paid handsomely for playing a game they love.
“You’re playing the game, you’re enjoying the game. You don’t like the game, get out of it. It’s not for protesting one way or the other,” he said. “What color you are, what you think … you’re privileged. You got a gift from God that you can play the game because you got a body you can do it with. I don’t really understand what you’re protesting.”
