LANDOVER — If Chase Young and Washington’s defensive line is going to feast in Sunday’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia’s inactive list could help explain why.

Eagles All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson is inactive for Philadelphia with an ankle injury — a huge blow given Philadelphia was already missing left tackle Andre Dillard and right guard Brandon Brooks.

The Eagles are also missing several playmakers, such as running back Miles Sanders and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.

Washington’s biggest absence, meanwhile, will be Kendall Fuller, the team’s No. 1 cornerback who was doubtful with a knee injury. Quarterback Alex Smith is also inactive after making the 53-man roster nearly two years removed from a horrific leg injury.

Here is the full list of inactives for Washington:

- Quarterback Alex Smith

- Cornerback Kendall Fuller (knee)

- Linebacker Thomas Davis (calf)

- Tackle Saahdiq Charles (calf)

- Tackle David Sharpe

- Running back Bryce Love

Washington is allowed to have 48 players active this year instead of 46 because of an NFL rule that permits teams to have an extra player or two if it has eight active offensive linemen, which Washington does.
