Bostic was ejected in third quarter of Sunday’s 25-3 win over the Cowboys for lowering his shoulder into Dalton’s head while the quarterback was sliding on the ground. The play left Dalton with a concussion and afterward, Dalton told a teammate he couldn’t remember what had happened.
According to the NFL Network, Bostic will likely be fined for the hit, but won’t be in danger of missing additional time.
Washington coach Ron Rivera criticized Bostic for the play. Pro Football Talk reported that Rivera apologized to Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy for the hit as well.
“You’d like to tell Jon he’s got to be smarter than that,” Rivera said. “He’s a veteran guy that knows. It’s unfortunate because we had a three-and-out right there they could’ve had to punt. We could’ve gotten the ball back sooner. Jon’s a savvy, veteran guy and that’s a mistake that he shouldn’t make. It’s unfortunate.”
