The Washington Football Team fined quarterback Dwayne Haskins for breaking the team’s COVID-19 protocols during a road trip over the weekend ahead of its game against the New York Giants.

Haskins, 23, was fined $4,833 for making a hotel reservation at the team hotel for a family friend — which is “strictly prohibited” by the team, according to ESPN. ESPN first reported the news.

The fine comes after Washington faced questions whether Haskins would even make the trip with the team after the quarterback missed two straight practices with an illness. Haskins, who was demoted to third string, returned to practice last Friday and was cleared to travel by team doctors.

Haskins lost his starting job Oct. 7 when coach Ron Rivera announced he would start Kyle Allen instead of 2019 first-rounder. Haskins was benched after four games in which Washington went 1-3.

Washington has gone 0-2 since the switch. The team hosts the Dallas Cowboys (2-5) on Sunday at FedEx Field. Haskins is expected to be a healthy scratch for the game.
