MONROE, La. (AP) - Authorities were searching for a man and a newborn after a baby disappeared from a Louisiana hospital late Thursday.
A statement from the Louisiana State Police said Travis Hargrove, 35, was believed to have left St. Francis Medical Center with Travis Hargrove Jr. inside a black backpack less than a day after the child was born.
The man, who was described in a police statement as possibly being the child’s father, was last seen walking away from the hospital, and the child hasn’t been seen since.
The child, who was born about 7 a.m. Thursday, had a medical condition that requires treatment, police said.
