Washington guard Saahdiq Charles dislocated his knee cap in Sunday’s 20-19 loss to the New York Giants and will miss at least next week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to multiple reports.

Charles played just two snaps before limping off in the first quarter.

The fourth-rounder was making the first start of his career as Washington benched Wes Martin at left guard. Wes Schweitzer replaced Charles after the injury.

The NFL Network reported that Washington is hopeful that Charles could make his return following the team’s Week 8 bye.

“It’s very difficult because you see the promise,” coach Ron Rivera said Monday. “Saahdiq played two plays — you watch both those plays and you sit there and go ‘God, (this) guy is something else.’”

Rivera did not offer an injury update on Charles in his Monday press conference, telling reporters he was still waiting to speak with team trainer Ryan Vermillion.

In addition to Charles, wide receivers Antonio Gandy-Golden (hamstring) and Isaiah Wright (unknown) exited with injuries.

Washington drafted Charles with the 108th overall pick out of LSU. The 21-year-old can play tackle or guard.
