LANDOVER — The Washington Football Team will be down one prominent receiver for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, but is also seeing the return of another.
Veteran Dontrelle Inman was among the team’s inactives with a hamstring injury, while wideout Steven Sims will be active for the first time since Week 3. Washington activated Sims, who had missed the past four games with a toe injury, off injured reserve on Saturday.
Sims’ return should help boost Washington’s offense as he gives them a reliable threat from the slot.
“We missed that underneath guy that works the underneath and takes a little bit of the pressure off of Terry [McLaurin] and Cam [Sims] and Logan [Thomas],” coach Ron Rivera said Thursday “When you don’t have that presence that’s there, it kind of changes your approach. It changes the targeting of the quarterback. It changes the offense’s calls.”
In three games, Sims has six catches for 103 yards.
Here’s the full list of who is inactive for Washington:
- Quarterback Dwayne Haskins
- Wideout Dontrelle Inman (hamstring)
- Tackle Geron Christian (knee)
- Linebacker Thomas Davis
- Defensive end Casey Toohill
- Wide receiver Tony Brown
- Wide receiver Robert Foster.
