Health officials lift boil water advisory

WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) - The state Department of Health lifted a a boil-water advisory in Westerly on Wednesday.

Health officials said tests have showed an absence of bacteria in the Westerly Water System.

Officials issued the advisory on Tuesday due to a water main break that had the potential to cause a loss of water pressure in multiple areas of the system.

The break has been repaired and the system was treated with additional chlorine and flushed, officials said.
