Four-star Class of 2021 power forward Julian Reese announced Sunday he committed to the University of Maryland, where he will join his sister Angel Reese, a top-rated recruit for the women’s program.
Julian Reese is entering his senior season at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore and also received offers from Virginia Tech and LSU. The website 247 Sports ranked him as the No. 110 player in the nation in his class and the fifth-best in the state.
“Happy Mother’s Day Ma, I’m going to college for free!” Reese posted on Instagram. “Pack your stuff and move down college park to see both of the stars you created.”
His older sister Angel is a five-star winger and the consensus No. 2 recruit in the nation in the incoming 2020 class. Her addition as a true freshman will help the Terrapins women’s program restock after losing senior Kaila Charles to the WNBA and former top recruits Shakira Austin and Taylor Mikesell to transfer.
She also posted on social media to celebrate her brother’s commitment:
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOMMY!!💗We thank you for everything you do! Today we surprised you with JuJu commitment to MARYLAND! COLLEGE PARK GET READY ITS LITTT❤️🐢 #terp #HappyMothersDay @Reese10Julian pic.twitter.com/pymViEuhfj
