DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - District conventions for the Iowa Republican Party won’t be convening as usual, but voting will be conducted by mail as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, officials said Friday.
The conventions and votes were scheduled for April 25. Instead, the State Central Committee has decided to mail paper ballots to all district delegates.
“These are obviously extraordinary circumstances, and the State Central Committee agreed that using paper ballots is the most reliable and feasible option,” said Iowa party spokesman Aaron Britt. “This will allow us to conduct our conventions and proceed with important party business, including electing delegates to the state convention, national convention, and electing members of the State Central Committee.”
