New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft took out a full-page ad in the Tampa Bay Times on behalf of the team to thank quarterback Tom Brady and tell fans of his new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to “take care of him.”
Brady signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers last week after spending the first 20 years of his historic NFL career with New England, where he won six Super Bowls.
“For 20 amazing years, you gave us everything you had,” the message began, addressing Brady. “When you arrived as a sixth-round pick - and the best selection this franchise has ever made - no one imagined all you’d accomplish or how much you’d soon mean to an entire region.”
The ad went on to thank Brady for guiding the Patriots into becoming an NFL dynasty in the last two decades, with 17 division titles in Brady’s time there and nine AFC championships.
“To the Buccaneers fans and Tampa Bay community - take care of him. You got a great one,” the message concluded.
It was signed by “the Kraft family and the New England Patriots.”
Brady, who will turn 43 before the 2020 season, will attempt to bring the Buccaneers to the playoffs for the first time since the 2007 season, which would break the second-longest active postseason drought in the league.
