PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - A longtime New Jersey Congressman is recuperating after undergoing heart bypass surgery.
Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., 83, was found to have blockages in his arteries when he went to a hospital in Paterson due to indigestion and heartburn. He underwent surgery Sunday and is expected to make a full recovery, his office announced Monday.
Pascrell, who was first elected to the House in 1996, is running for another term. He faces a challenge in Tuesday’s Democratic primary from Zina Spezakis, a clean energy executive.
