The Maryland Terrapins rose three spots to No. 12 in this week’s Associated Press men’s college basketball poll released Monday.

Big Ten opponent Ohio State dropped six spots to No. 11 after a 4-point home loss to Wisconsin last Friday, setting up an 11-versus-12 matchup when the Buckeyes visit the Terrapins in College Park on Tuesday.

Maryland (12-2, 2-1 Big Ten) is coming off a 75-59 win over Indiana on Saturday. The Terrapins, who have been ranked as high as No. 3 this year, are second only to No. 8 Michigan State in the conference standings and have a chance to put a statement win on their resume if they beat Ohio State.

Gonzaga held onto the No. 1 ranking and Duke and Kansas remained second and third. Baylor and undefeated Auburn rose to Nos. 4 and 5, and surprising San Diego State, the only other unbeaten team in Division I hoops, leapt six spots to No. 7.

Virginia (11-2, 3-0 ACC) moved up a spot to No. 18 after shutting down Virginia Tech over the weekend. Two other Virginia programs received votes: VCU (5) and Liberty (2).
