Chad Johnson is attempting a comeback to professional football. But this time, it’s at a different position.
The former Pro Bowl wide receiver will try out for the XFL — as a kicker.
The opportunity to kick in the XFL has presented itself, i must tryout Monday in Houston, I’m excited as hell & I’m sure all will go well 🙏🏿— Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) January 14, 2020
The XFL is set to kickoff Feb. 8. The league will not have extra point attempts and kickoffs will be placed farther back than the NFL.
Last month, Johnson uploaded a video to Instagram that showed him working on making field goals.
Johnson’s kicking talents also have led him to the world of soccer. During the 2011 lockout, Johnson had a brief stay with Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City, and in 2018 he played for Boca Raton FC, a fourth-tier professional club.
